IRISH FREE STATE ELECTIONS.

PROGRESS RETURNS. London, September 19. At midnight the Government Parties held 62 seats distributed as follows: — Government 48 Independents 10 Farmers’ 4 The Opposition Parties held 56 seats, distributed'as follows: De Valeraites 41 Labourites 11 Others 4 Mr. Patrick Hogan, the Minister of Lands and Agriculture, and Professor John M. O’Sullivan, the Minister of Education, have been elected. All the Ministers have now been returned. PREVIOUS STATE OF PARTIES. The total number of members in the Dail Eireann is 152, of which 3 were returned for the universities unopposed. At the June General Election the following were the jinal figures:— Government 46 Fianna Fail 44 Labour 22 Farmers 11 National League . 8 Sinn Fein 6 Independent 14 Independent Republican 1 "When the issue canje to be tried out on a no-confidence motion on 16th August, the following was the voting:— For the Motio.n: Fianna Fail 43, Labour 21, National League 6, Independent I—7l.1 —71. Against the motion: Government 45, Independents 14, Farmers 11, non-party I—7l.1 —71. A Redmondite, Mr. John Jinks, was absent. The speaker gave his casting vote for the Government. There were two impending by-elec-tions due to the deaths of Mr. Kevin O’Higgins and The Countess Markieviez.
