At the British Science Congress at Leeds, Dr. R. J. S. McDowall, Professor of Physiology at King’s College, London University, said that if an individual sat still after a meal the food left the stomach in a given time, but faster if he walked alone, and 'faster (still if he walked in pleasant company. Mcmtal stress definitely affected the digestion, which was the great argument in favour of a holiday for mental workeys. Dr George Barker, Professor of Chemistry in Relation to Medicine at Edinburgh University, described adrenalin, which is made from coal tar. It had a powerful effect on constricting the small blood vessels, and 1 could cure a red nose.
