SUMMER TIME BILL.

PASSED BY THE HOUSE,

Wellington, Yesterday.

Mr. Sidney’s Sumnw Time Bill, consideration of which was interrupted on August 25, by the death of the Hon. R. F. Bollard, was passed through the Committee stage after an all-night sitting resulting from a vigorous stonewall by opponents to the measure, and was subsequently read a third time and passed by the House. THE DIVISION LIST. The division, which gives the best idea of the views of the House on the question, wms that on the short title. This was carried by 35 votes to 18, the division being as follow's: — Ayes (35): —Armstrong, iltmore, Bartram, Bell, Bellringer, Buddo, Dickie, J. S. Dickson, Forsyth, Fraser, Girling, Harris, H. On the third reading Mr. Linklater recorded his vote against the BiH. •Supporters of Bill are confident that the measure will be passed by the Legislative Council, although it cannot be pi’edicted with cei’tainty that the Bill will not get through without amendment. The amendment exempting thi’ashing and shearing hands inserted by the committee of the House was moved in the Upper House last year, but was rejected on a. division. It is not outside the bounds of possibility that daylight saving applicable to all and sundry will be the chief provision when the Bill becomes an Act.
