A Press message from Blenheim announces the death of Air. John Barry, one of Blenheim’s most respected citizens.
A very well known old identity of Woodviffe and Alanawatu in the person of Mr. Thomas Bxightwell, passed away at the Palmerston North Hospital on. Thursday after a shorty illness.
Mr. J. H. Downes, local gas works manager, has been appointed by the Nelson City Council to the position of gas works foreman at Nelson. Mr. Downes proceeded to Nelson to-day to confer with the Nelson Council. It is probable that Air. Downes will accept the position.
A. Press message frirn Wellington records the death of Mr. J. 11. Prosser, the veteran race horse trainer, who has been located at Porirua for the best part of half a century and trained his charges on the beach. Advance and Achilles brought him into prominence.
The Rev. W. H. Walton, of Foxton, was the officiating clergyman at a wedding in St. Peter’s church, Wellington, on Thursday. The contracting parties .were Ruby Lilian, daughter of Ah'. W. R> Bock, of Wellington, and James Harold, son of Airs. Clark and the late Mr. Clark, of the same city.
