stimulating is egg nogg. Separate the white and yolk of an egg and beat up the yolk with two teaspoonfuls of castor sugar. Then add two teaspoonfuls of brandy. Bring half-a-pint of milk to the boil, pour on to the other ingredients, and fold in the white of egg, then whisking it to a froth. With a wineglassful of port, two lumps of sugar, a piece of lemon rind, and a grating of nutmeg, a soothing and wanning drink is quickly prepared. Place wine, sugar and rind in a glass, dilute with boiling water, and add nutmeg to taste.
