OBITUARY.

The death occurred in Palmerston North on Thursday of Mr. Robert McMurray, a colonist of over CO years’ standing. Born at AVarren Point, in the North of Ireland, 85 years ago, deceased went to Australia when a young man of 20. After working on the goldfields there for two or three years, he migrated to New Zealand, landing at Dunedin and, proceeding to Gabriel’s Gully. After a while there the late Mr. McMurray removed to Thames and later to Nelson, marrying in the latter town 50 years ago. Shifting in the course of a year or two to the West Coast, the deceased gentleman took up farming pursuits. Later, he removed to Brightwater, Nelson, and then settled at Awahuri, farming in the latter locality for seven years. Proceeding to Wanganui, he lived there until 1914, when lie went to Palmerston North in which town he had since resided. The family comprise Messrs Robert McMurray, of Foxton, and Alfred McMurray, of Waitoa, and Misses May and Minnie McMurray and Mrs P. Ryan, all of Palmerston North. A sister, Mrs. Graham, still resides at. Warren Point. Mr. Joe McMurray died at Nelson 11 years ago. The interment took place to-day.
