RACING.

MARTON MEETING. After an absence of two racing seasons —during which time its meetings were held on the Feilding track —the Marton Jockey Club on Friday last returned to its own course at Marton. It was officially opened' on Friday at the Spring Meeting, the occasion being somewhat of a gala day. The machine registered £10,580, which compared with the corresponding day last year, when the meeting was at Feilding shows a deficiency of £759. The gate taking, however, showed a slight increase. The results were as follows: Trial Plate: —-Blimp 1, Tanagra 2, Aro De Val 8. First Hack Hurdles-Peshwa 1, Jovial 2, Peneus 3. Spring Hack Handicap: —Closefire 1, Boy (Mr. A. Steer’s) 2, Radiate 3. The Marton Handicap:—Royal Mint 1, Nukumai 2, Tresham 3. Hunt Cup 'Steeplechase: —Handy 1, -Banjuke (W. Bowden) 2, Oneroa 3. Electric Hack Handicap:—Miss Mercia 1, Volplane 2, Bank Note 3. Railway Handicap: —Huikai 1, Beaumont 2, Hipo 3. Tutaenui Hack Handicap:—Anolo 1, Butterscotch 2, Mister Gamp 3. SECOND DAY AT MARTON. The second day of the Marton Jockey Club’s Spring Meeting was held in fine weather on Saturday. The totalisator handled £13,480 for 'the day compared with £14,952 for the second day last year, a decrease of £1,472. The total for the meeting was £30,000, which cornipared with £32,291 last year is a decrease of £2,231. ■Results are as follows: Novice Stakes:-—The Raider 1, Fee Simple 2, Helotis 3.
