MAKING AN EARLY START.

Auckland Afigust 31. At three o’clock this morning the police detained two girls, each about 18 years, who were loading luggage into a dilapidated motor-car, and detained them, pending a communication with their parents or relatives. One belongs to W’aipukurau, the other to Wellington. They had come from Wellington and stated that they were making an early start on their return journey. Neither had a license to drive, but' one had a transfer showing she had purchased a car.
