The spectacle of a group of seven Sikhs, two of them carrying pearifles, patrolling the streets of Rotorua for the past few days has excited considerable curiosity. The men are not attached to the coolie or small tradesmen class, but represent a sect of ■Northern India’ distinguished alike for military prowess and religious fanaticism.
