Beer has a history which goes back to 5000 BJC. The eaidiest brewers were faced with the difficulty of producing a beverage free from cloudiness. iSome 2,000,0001 b. of fish scales are used every year in the United States in manufacturing backs for toilet articles. The material resembles mother-of-pearl. Pictures built up of pieces of wallpaper are the newest “alt” hobby. The inventor is a Sussex man who has turned out some very charming effects. When the Mayor of a small Victorian town died, his brother councillors wired a city florist for a special wreath of white roses—his favourite flowers. Favoured with cool weather, the blooms arrived in good condition and eclipsed all local floral tributes. During the night, the best of the blooms were stolen from the grave, and next day a stranger carried off the first prize for 12 cut roses at a flower show in a nearby township. The following story is todl in the Hollywood Film Mercury: An author wrote to a producer, asking for a concise formula for writing a successful picture story. The producer wrote: “A motion picture should contain religion, comedy, society, action, sex interest, and it can’t be too short. For such a scenario I will be glad to pay from ten to twenty thousand dollars.” A few days later, the producer received a letter from the author realing as follows: “Herewith story containing religion, comedy, society, action, sex interest. And it’s short. Send cheque by return mail.” Enclosed was the manuscript, which read as follows: “My God,” laughed the countess, “let go of my leg!”
