PERJURY CHARGE.

JURY FAILS TO AGREE. Invercargill, August 24. At the Supreme Court to-day, before Mr. Justice Sim, George Seandrebt, formerly senior sergeant of police at Invercargill, appeared on a charge of perjury in that on January 28, during the course of a case in which Annie Scandrett proceeded againgt Patrick Cairns for monyes lent, he denied having any share in a gold mining claim held by Cairns prior to December, 1925. The jury, after a retirement of four hours, failed to agree, and a new trial was ordered for to-mor-row.
