ENTERTAINMENTS.

There was a fair and appreciative audience at the Masonic Hall last night when a company of Shannon performers assisted by local talent gave a variety entertainment in aid of the Methodist Circuit fund. The performers were handicapped in the various sketches for lack of stage facilities. The Rev. Mr. Perymau presided and, like a good chairman, did not impose lengthy comments upon the audience. The programme consisted of dialogues, sketches, vocal and elocutionary items and concluded with songs and choruses by the Shannon Excelsior Entertainers. Mesdames Yeo, Cronquest, Mss iChalk, and Messrs Leng Ward, ! Cronquest, G. F. Smith, Chrystall contributed vocal items, Messrs A; Milner and Riches elocutionary items, and pianoforte selections byMr Leng Ward and Misses Vera Quarrie and Mona Ingley. Misses Delany, Quarrie and Peryman and Mesdames Westwood and Cronquest played the accompaniments. ' The playettes and dialogues caused much amusement, and the performers were heartily applauded. Messrs Milner, Riches, Cronquest and Smith were very successful in their humorous impersonations. At the conclusion the performers were accorded a hearty vote of thanks, which was carried by acclamation. The visitors were entertained at supper before "departing for Shannon. “THE EXQUISITE SINNER.” Under the title of “The Exquisite Sinner,” Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer presents a screen version of Alden Brook’s popular novel, “Escape,” with Conrad Nagel and Renee Adoree in the leading roles.
