FOXTON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
GENERAL MEETING. A general meeting of the Forton Horticultural Society was held in Ross’ Rooms last night, presided over by the president (Mr D. Christie). Also present: Mesdames D. Ogilvy, Percy Easton, J. M. Barr, R. MeMurray, E. Murphy, R. Moore, Misses Speirs and Ross and Revs. Walton and Peryman, Messrs W. Nye, G. Tyer, J. E. Murphy, C. Symons, R. Hornblow and John Ross. An apology for absence was received from the secretary (Mr W. H. Nicholas)'! The president rtported that, together with the secretary, he had altered the date of the forthcoming show from September 13th to September 15th, to avoid clashing with exhibitions held in other towns. His action was confirmed. NOTICES OF MOTION. The chief business of the evening was to deal with two notices of motion moved at a previous meeting, (1) that the number on the ladies’ 1 and men’s committees be increased to sixteen, and (2) that the rule relating to the sale of surplus bulbs be deleted from the Society’s rules. The first motion was carried, and the following additions made to the committees: — Ladies: Mesdames Moore, P. Easton and N. Cresswell, and Misses Hughes and B. Gower. Men’s: Messrs T. Hughes, A. E. Scott, N. Creswell, and Hussey. It was discovered that the second notice of motion was out of order, and it w'as withdrawn, but it was decided to again bring the matter up for discussion at the annual meeting. SANDON SHOW. ' The Sahdon Horticultural Society, wrote, notifying that their annual show would be held on September 3rd. —Received. APPOINTMENT OF STEWARDS. The following class stewards were appointed:— A and B. and special - classes: Mrs. Ogilvy and Miss Speirs; D. : Miss J. Ross; C. : Mrs. ,P. Easton; E.: Mr E. J. Murphy; fruit and vegetables: Mr C. Symons; decorative: Miss Neylon; 'cooking and home industries: Mrs Procter and Miss Gower. THE BULB SHOW. Arrangements for a suitable programme for Show night -were left in the hands of Miss J. Ross. It was decided to invite Mr J. Linklater, M.P., to open the Show. The matter of procuring Stewards’ badges was left in the hands of the president. A vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting. The schedules for the forthcoming Spring Show have now left the printers’ hands, and may be pro* cured on application to the president.
