Mr. Potter reminded the Labour Party that every war monument erected in the British Empire had inscribed on it the Avords “Lest We Forget.” Mr. Fraser alluding to criticisms of Mr. McCombs Avith reference to Government loan expenditure— Easels, desks, inkpots. Mr. Potter —That slioavs how little the member for Wellington Central thinks the questions of vital importance to those Avho are keenly interested in the welfare of the British Empire. We must take care that the rising generation shall not forget the past actions of those Avho Avere pacifists. Mr. Fraser —Hear, hear! We will stick to everything, my boy! Mr. Potter —It is all right for the honourable gentleman to jest over it noAv, but, Avhen the member for Clutha was speaking, anger and bitterness came from the Labour benches. They hate allusions to the past, and the honourable member’s brother died in the Avar. Hon. members ought to have respect for the dead if not for the living.
