MANAWATU COUNTY COUNCIL

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Manawatu County Council was held at Sanson yesterday, presided over by the Chairman (Mr W. E. Barber). Also present were Crs. H. H. Hunt, J. Boyce, D. W. Reid, J. H. Perrett, J. McKelvie and W. Pearce. CORRESPONDENCE was read and dealt with as follows: From the Foxton Chamber of Commerce, requesting the Council to put the road between Foxton and Rangiotu in order as the existing state of the highway is considered to be detrimental to the interests of Foxton. —Received. From G. J. Oliver, Foxton, applying for the transfer of his slaughterhouse license No. W. 40 to J. Legg of Bainesse. —Approved. COUNTY RATE ROLL. The follow)ing .alterations were made in the County rate roll: — Registrar Supreme Court to G. Milligan, lot 18, sec. 74 Carnarvon and lots lfi and 17, secs. 71 and 74, Carnarvon; Simon Foster to E. N. Rowe, sec. 234, block 111, Te Kawau. E. Vallender to Wl A. Thomson,^ see. 7, block I, Douglas Blk.; W. 11. Shepherd to L. 11. Rogers, pt. lot IG, sec. BG, Sandon; Est. R. B. McKenzie to N. D. Newport, lot 12, sec. 53 Carnarvon; E. E. Elgintou to E. Vallender jr., pt. sec. 259, Carnarvon ; M. E. Perreau to Arthur Steer, pt. sec. 268, block I, Moutere. TRAMWAY REPORT. The Tramway manager reported as follows on the working on the Sanson tramway: —The chief items of traffic for the month were: Grain 181 tons, minerals and manure 140.1 tons, general merchandise 631 tons; stock 12 trucks; metal 312 trucks; timber 12,050 sup. feet.; eggs 74 crates. Fares amounted to 13/8. The accounts show a debit balance of £46 10/1 for the month’s working. ENGINEER’S REPORT. The engineer reported as follows on the Awaliou Riding:—An inspection of the various roads ’in this riding was made during the month just past and it was suggested that about a mile of the Kari Kari road be formed up later on in the season and work on the continuation of No. 6 line be put in hand immediately. This work is now being carried out and minor repairs being attended to along the Kari Kari Rd. With reference to the Foxton Rd., Repairs have been, effected in the shape of supplying repair metal and clay blinding to the extent of £235. This includes labour and grading work.
