The headmaster reported that there had been a slight decrease in the primary roll number, owing to the removal of families from the district. The roll number of the secondary department was 30 and the side school 60. Attendance had been affected by sickness and weather conditions. I would draw parents attention to the .fact that the infant class rooms are bright, warm and sunny and teachers ' exercise every care of their small charges. During the month several parents were before the court for failing to send their children regularly to school. 'Convictions were recorded in five cases. I sincerely hope that it will be unnecessary for such drastic, action in the future. Inspectors Adams and Crawford inspected the school last week. Miss Young has resigned from her position at the side school and Miss Allen appointed in her stead. The headmaster paid a high tribute to the work of Miss Young. The report made reference to the success of the school football team and the proposed visit of football and basket ball teams to the Hutt. Reports cards will be supplied to parents when same come to hand from the Board. Certain requests for supplies, etc., were embodied in the report. •Resolved to send a letter to Miss Young expressing the committee’s sympathy with her in her illness. Messrs Stevenson, Rangiheuea and the head master were appointed a sub-committee to arrange a social for the entertainment of the .school sports teams and their parents. Messrs Huntley, Stevenson, Cowley, Hutchins and the headmaster were appointed a sub-committee with power to act in carrying out improvements to the school grounds. A copy of a claim for damages, etc., from All Saints’ vestry while the premises were occupied by the secondary classes and a report on same from the headmaster were received and referred to the Board as requested. Mr. Alsop reported upon the sideschool and it was was resolved to thank Messrs Alsop, Hartley and sons, L. Andrews and L. Hunt for services rendered. Other minor matters were dealt with and the meeting rose.
