MOTORISTS’ COMPLAINTS.
“WILL NOT BE LOST SIGHT OF!”
A suggestion that the bends in the road near Himatangi and Bainesse should be straightened was received at the nignthly meeting of the Manawatu County Council on Wednesday from the Palmerston North branch of the Wellington Automobile Club. , “We hope,” stated the ' writers, “that this matter will receive attention at the earliest moment, as, with the increasing traffic on this thor oughfare, these bends are looked upon as being very dangerous/ It is understood that the cost- of straightening would not amount to a> great, deal, and would he greatly appreciated by the travelling public.”
“There is not much hope of the work being doiie at present,” stated the chairman (Cr. (Barber), “but I think we can advise the club that the matter will not be lost sight of.” This the meeting agreed to do. PUNT AT SHANNON. '
In a further letter a complaint was made concerning the working of the punt at Shannon. “We have had,” stated the writers, .“quite a number of complaints from motiprists and others that they have.travelled to the bridge site only to find that the punt is unworkable through the river being flooded. We would suggest that a notice be placed in soing conspicuous place in Foxton indicating when the punt is unworkable through {flood ,or other cause.”
The council decided that, if the club would supply a notice board, it would erect it. * ;
