PLUNKET SOCIETY.

MONTHLY MEETING. The usual monthly meeting of the Foxton branch of the Plunket Society was held in the Plunket room on Monday afternoon, presided over bv Mrs. F. Robinson (President). Also present were: Mesdames Trueman, W. H. Walton, C. A. Pearson, D, Christie, H. Downes, R. Roore, A. Ross, C. Edwards, A. Baker, A. Ileaseman, D. Barron, E. Stevenson, M. E. Perreau, G. Smith and the secretary (Mr§. R. McMurray). Messrs M. E. Perreau and D. Christie (members of the newly formed Advisory Board) were also present. An apology for absence was received from Mrs. Barr. NURSE’S REPORT.

The nurse’s monthly report was read as follows: —

Visits to Foxton, 5; to homes, 17; adults, to office, 90; babies, 79; children, 50; a total of 219. Three new cases were reported and two letters of advice had been sent out. —Adopted. A donation of 10/- was received from Mrs. Adams, Harbour Street. The proceeds of Mr. I. Corn’s weighing machine totalled 8/7 and. the office box 9/1. Mesdames F. Robinson and W. E. Walton were appointed visitors for the month.

Messrs Perreau and Christie thanked the meeting for electing them members of the Advisory Board and made reference to the good work done locally by the Society. As members of the Board t they assured the ladies of their cooperation and assistance in any way to help the Society along. The secretary said that the So eiety’s present need was for suitable rooms for the nurse. Mrs, Pearson had kindly placed her room at the disposal of the Society, but that body bad now reached the „

stage when two rooms were necessary. The Mayor stated that the Council was contemplating making alterations to the old temporary Town Hall structure and suggested that the Society make application to the Council for the use of two rooms in that building. It was decided to do this and the meeting terminated with the usual vote of thanks to the chair.
