The Wairarapa Rugby Union management committee have decided to request the New Zealand Union to take up the matter of V. Barclay’s .residentfial qualification in Hawke’s Bay prior to his participating in last Saturday’s Ranfurly Shield match. The New Zealand Union rules (Rule 43) provided that any player engaging in inter-Pro-vincial football must reside in the province for at least three weeks prior to the match. In view of the fact that Barclay did not leave Auckland for Napier before June 23, and had not played in Hawke’s Bay this season prior to the match against Wairarapa. Wairarapa felt justified in asking the New Zealand Union to investigate Barclay’s bonafules.
The date of the Moascar Cup football match between Palmerston North High School and Te Aute College, to be played at Waipawa, has been changed from Wednesday, 27th inst., to Tuesday, 26th , inst. The reason for the alteration is that: Taranaki will be playing Hawke’s Bay in a Ranfurly Shield match on the 27th.
The Auckland Rugby Union has approved the following resolution passed by the International Board: “That in the opinion of the Board it is contrary to the spirit of amateur Rugby football that teams should be assembled at a centre during a period prior to a match for the purpose of change of air and training.”
A committee meeting of the Foxton Football Club was held in Walls’ Rooms last night, presided over by Mr. W. Neville. Also present were: Messrs C. Rand, R. Cochrane, A. Walls, Fuller, T. Tuna and the secretary (Mr. R. Hornblow).
Business of a routine nature was discussed and a vote of thanks accorded the ladies’ committee who had so ably assisted in connection with the social evening.
Accounts amounting to £7 10s tvere passed for payment.
The doctor refused to give C. Anderson his clearance this morning, with the result that he was unable to play in the rep. match in Palmerston N. to day.
A number of local football enthusiasts journeyed to Palmerston N. this afternoon to witness the rep. match.
The local State School football Learn journeyed to Ohau this morning, where they defeated the home ;eam by 6 points to 3.
