FOXTON TENNIS CLUB.

A special general meeting of the Foxton Tennis Club was held in Ross’s rooms on 'Tuesday night, presided over by the President (Mr. R. McMurray). There was a good attendance of members. :

The chairman explained that the meeting had been called for the purpose of getting further improvements done at the courts. Last year the Club had done remarkably well in having the playing area so well fixed up, and it was desired that they should turn their attention to beautifying and laying out the grounds. With the whole-heart-ed support and help of the members, the courts could he made a very attractive spot. Next, year, he said it was hoped that the Club would he able to organise a tournament, and assistance had been promised from tennis enthusiasts •in Palmerston North if this proposal eventuated. Members had done remarkably well last year in accomplishing so much and with more than double the membership now there should be no difficulty in carrying out the objective.

Messrs S. Bryant and C. Procter endorsed the President’s, remarks and suggested that plans be drawn up for the work necessary. Messrs F. C. Hay and the President were appointed to draw up plans. also decided to set aside a day, similar to Arbor Day, on which club members each plant a shrub at the courts. Wednesday, July 27th, was set aside as the date for this year.
