“ALTARS OF DESIRE.”
The delightful Mae' Murray is with us again. This time in a Me-tro-Goldwyn-Mayer picture entitled “Altars of Desire,” with Conway Tearle opposite her in the featured male role. This production screens at the Town Hall on Friday. The star has never been photographed to better advantage, nor has she ever done finer acting. She plays the part of Ciaire Sutherland, a head-strong society girl whose madcap ways catapult her into a charge of murder. The climax is played with fine emotionalism by the star, who is ably supported by Conway Tearle. With comedy and news, at usual prices. A picture reminiscent of the famous “Stella ‘ Dallas,” will head next Saturday’s programme. It is titled “The Lily,” and stars Belle Bennett in the same kind of role as she played in “Stella Dallas.
