In the middle of June last a Mauri patient was admitted to the Whangarei hospital suffering from pneumonia, complicated by typhoid. The former disease so overshadowed the typhoid that its presence was not detected for some days. By this time five nurses had been infected, and Nurse Potter, aged 21, died on Thursday. The others are progressing satisfactorily. No cases have occurred outside the hospital.
