S.M. COURT

MONTHLY SITTING.

The usual monthly sitting of the local S.M. Court was held yesterday, presided over by Mr. H. J. Salmon, S.M. Hori Te Matuku, on a charge of failing to return certain military equipment to the Defence Department when posted to the Reserve, was convicted and ordered to make restitution of £3 19s sd, value of the missing articles, together with’ costs 10/-.

On a similar charge, Rapana Tangaru was convicted and ordered to make restitution of £1 Is 3d, with costs 10/-.

Sergeant-Major Thompson conducted the cases, on behalf of the Department. CIVIL CASES. Judgment was given for plaintiff in the following civil undefended cases: — C. Billings v. R. Andrews, 15/costs 13/-; Mrs. Rusterhalz v. H. B. Cresswell, £6 15s, costs £1 12s 6d; R. E. Hart v. J. Kennedy, 16/-, costs 13/-; Foxton Borough Council v. J. E. Coley, £2 5s lOd, costs £1 3s Gd; same v. G. T. Woodroofe, £7 18s lid, costs £llos 6d. -JUDGMENT SUMMONSES. D. Williams was ordered to pay the Foxton Borough Council £5 15s Gd, with costs 15/6 forthwith, in default six days’ imprisonment.

T. Gunter was ordered to pay C. Billings £1 4s Od, -in default 24 hours’ imprisonment, warrant not to be issued until 30/7/27.

Hori George was ordered to pay C. Billings £4 13s Gd, in default five days’ imprisonment.
