A “SWAGGER” SINGS
“I wish I had some one to love me,” sang a not very melodious voice in Taupo Quay in the vicinity of the Wanganui Town Bridge last evening, and interested spectators perceived in the gathering dusk the figure of ft bent old man carrying his swag. “Out of work mate?” queried a sympathetic passer-by. “Aye! Been out two months” replied the trainper cheerfully “but why worry? When we’ve work we curse it, and when we haven’t we look for it! ‘I wish I had some one to love me’ —,” and on went the shuffling footsteps into the darkness.—’Chronicle.
