NAPIER MAYORALTY.

MR. J. VIGOR BROWN DIS-

QUALIFIED,

Napier, June 20,

Tbe Mayor, Mr. J. Vigor Brown, was to-day informed by the borough solicitors that as a firm in which he was interested in had sold cement to the council in the year prior to his election, and as-payment had been made after his election, he automatically forfeited his seat. The money concerned was repaid to the council by the firm con cerncd, and this fact led the solicitors to the opinion that Mr. Brown was elegible for re-election. The amount involved was £57.
