While discussing insurance for players at the North Auckland Rugby Union meeting the other night, Mr. W. Kelly (Northern Wairoa) said this was always a bone of contention. His own Union was in splendid position. This year it had cancelled all players’ passes and was charging them 1/- admission fee at the gate, which automatically injured them. If full teams played, 18/- was transferred from the gate to the insurance fund, and if less than 15 players turned out, 1/was transferred for each player. By this means, the insurance fund was £67 ahead after the first four matches, and it was reasonably hoped that this amount would increase to over £2OO by the end of the season. They would consider a larger benefit next year. At present his Union allowed 1/- per week for 12 weeks and free medical attention.
