ALLEGED TRAIN WRECKERS
TWO MEN ARRESTED AT WHAKATANE.
Gisborne, June 16,
The discovery of an obstruction on the railway line at Otako early this week has led to the arrest of two men at Whakatane charged with interference with the property of the Railway Department and they will appear at Gisborne tomorrow. ■-
The obstruction found on the line comprised some of the spikes ordinarily used for securing rails to sleepers and was sufficiently large to derail an engine had it not been discovered. The two men charged with the offence were passing through Poverty Bay afoot and are believed to be identical with two men seen walking along the railway line near the spot where the spikes were found on the line.
