INCIPIENT FIRE

BLOCK OF BUILDINGS NARROWLY ESCAPES DESTRUCTION.

An incipient fire occurred in Mr. A. E. Admore’s work-shop at the rear of Mr. J. N. Rider's boot repair shop between 7.30 and 8 o'clock in Tuesday evening, which, had it not been for the prompt action of the local fire brigade, would have seriously menaced the whole wooden block of buildings.

It appears that Mr. Admorc was engaged in doing some picture framing when a piece ot moulding lie was using knocked over a herosene lamp which ignited a heap of wall-papers. The alarm was quickly given and the brigade soon had the blaze extinguished.
