BURGLARIES IN CHRISTCHURCH.
SUBURBAN STORES RANSACKED. ' Christchurch, June 13. Thieves broke into G AY. Smith’s store in Opawa Road last night, and stole a quantity of shirts, collars, rugs, socks and cigarettes. It was a stormy night, and the thief was undisturbed. An attempt to force the lock with a jemmy failed, and the robber then used the jemmy to smash the glass panel of the door, by which entry was made. No cash was left in the shop by the owner, who has had a previous experience of burglaries. Just a year ago thieves broke into his residence and stole between £3O and £4O.
