AN UNUSUAL VISITOR

Mr. A. T. Donnelly, Crown Prosecutor, of Christchurch, bad an unexpected visitor to hrs house the other day (says an exchange). He stepped into the hall without knocking. The visitor had not been in the house long when Mrs. Donnelly entered the hall from another part of the house. What she suav avus a very large Shorthorn bull. His eyes bore a nasty glint, lie was foaming at the mouth, bis big sides were heaving 1 , and lie was hot and tired. His nostrils were dilating feverishly. Mrs. Donnelly retreated hurriedly. ' The bull sniffed suspiciously, but. his eyes remained glued on the roadway. Next he turned into the library and stood there, waiting the coming of his pursuers. Mrs. Donnelly had intended going into the library to secure her sewing basket, but on second thoughts she avus doubtful whether she felt like sewing. She decided to let the bull have the library to himself. She tiptoed round the side of the house to the front gate. There a drover stood, whip in hand. “Have yon seen my bull?” he asked. “He’s in my library now.” “I’ll get him.” “Yes, do.” There was no clash, the bull ay ns ashamed and repentant. He went quietly with the drover back to the herd. He had not. broken a thing in the house.
