IRREGULAR SCHOOL ATTENDANCE.
HEADMASTER’S WARNINGS
UNHEEDED. COMMITTEE TO TAKE ACTION. At last night’s meeting of the High School Committee the headmaster (Mr Mason) reported as follows: — “On looking closely into the attendance made by some pupils, I am constrained to believe that some parents keep their children from school for other than legitimate reasons. Although I have issued Avarning notices to the parents concerned, the poor attendance continues, and the time is not far distant Avhen some drastic action Avill need to be taken to bring those parents to a proper sense of their responsibilities regarding their children’s education.” It Avas pointed out that the Board had dispensed with the services of the truant inspector, blit this did not preclude the Committee from taking action. It was decided to immediately communicate Avith the Board on the subject.
