FIRST DAY AT OTAKI,
The crowd at the Otaki races yesterday was a record one, and the totnlisator showed an increase of £(>4o, there being £25,711 registered, compared with £25,065 last year. There were no untoward incidents during the day and the meeting- can he classed as one of the most successful in the history of the Club. Results are as follows: Tararua Hack Hurdles: —Lady Passenger 1, Gauntlet 2, Knlakaua 3. .Won by two and a-half lengths. No time taken. Kuku Maiden Flat Race: —Avro 1, Royal Picture 2, Romantic 3. Won by a short head. Time 1.20. Waitohu Hack Handicap:—Lady Cynthia I, Carrigallon 2, Break-o’-Duy 3. Won by one length and alialf. Time 1.18. Raukawn Cup Handicap:—Shining Armour 1, Tresham 2, Diogenes 3. Won by three lengths. Time 2.15. Otaki Hack Handicap:—Radiate 1. Closcfive 2, Mountain Jean 3. Won by a length. Time 1.51 1-5. Iluia Handicap:—Royal Game 1, Deluge 2, Lady Fingers 3. Won by a length each way. Time 1.18 3-5. Te Horn Hack Handicap:—Mister Gamp 1, Romantic 2, Calluna 3. Won b\* half a head. Time 1.35 3-5.
