C. H. ("Bert”) Derbridge, a wellknown professional runner, met with a painful and unusual aceidei.it early on Monday morning. "While lie was unloading coal from a railway truck the coal tub, which was not properly locked, swung and fell on lfim. Ho was removed to the Taihape Hospital, where it was found he had three broken ribs and a strained back. It will be some time before lie recovers from the accident, but it is hoped that it will not affect his running. In his last two starts at Easter lie won the 410 yards handicap and the 120 yards Sheffield at Papakura. He is also a great asset to representative football in the district.
