PRIME MINISTER’S MESSAGE
DARGAVILLE, May 17. The gospel of hard work, increased production and economy was expounded again by the Prime Minister tine morning, when he addressed a gatlieiing in the Coronation Hall at ie Kopuru. Mr C. Walpole, who presided, and Mr F. Wordsworth, of the Hobson County Council, welcomed Mr Coatee and stressed the importance of his work at the Imperial Conference. “1 know there are many who say the Prime Minister or the Government is responsible for the present depression,” said Mr Coates, in replying. “I happen to be the head of a Government that is being roundly crmmsul and blamed for all the ills of the country. Of course the Government is helping, and will help, to make tilings easier for those feeling the pinch, but I say quite definitely that the Government can no more find a solution for all the difficulties oi this country than I can fly over the moon. “Hasty, ill-considered legislation will pack up a pilo of troubles that will be far more difficult to deal with than those we have now. We can am. will get through our present depression, but it means hard work all round, economy and a readiness to exclude luxuries.” , Afterwards' the Premier and Mrs Coates visited Katpara Hospital, an institution which was developed and is maintained on a rate of one Birthing in the £l. Mr McCarrol, chairman ol the Hospital Board, showed uie visitors all the modern improvements oi the institution, which is served with a splendid drainage system and its own electric light. ’
