ABDUCTOR KILLED.

NOTORIOUS CRIMINAL SLAIN. NEW YORK, May 10. An abduction which had created a commotion in the Press here ended fatally for the abductor yesterday. Little Joe Marcus, a notorious figure in the under-world, recently abducted Abraham Scharlin, a wealthy impressario, and was holding him for £50,000 ransom. Raiding a well-known criminal resort in the Hell’s Kitchen district (lying west of Central Park) last night, polico found Marcus hiding in a cellar. When called upon to surrender he opened fire on the police who replied, shooting him dead.
