— WEDNESDA YITES DEFEA T LEVIN. Yesterday afternoon the local Wednesday team journeyed to Levin, where they met and defeated the home team by 14 points to 6 on a heavy ground. Rain fell during the game, which made the ball very greasy. The teams were as follows : Foxton : —A. Walls, Dunn, Broad, Anderson, Huff, Hirini, Small, Wright, Coley, Williams, It. Hornblow, Hetta, Little, Honour and Woods. Levin: —Lidels, Wallace, Stratton, McKenzie, Kingsbeer, Simes, Freeman, Drysdale, Christaiusen, Penticost, Whyman, -lowers, Cole, Dunn and Green. Foxton won the toss and defended the east end. Levin took play to the Foxton 25 where Huff cen-. trod. A forward rush returned play to the visitors 25 and Foxton took a force. Levin forwards again rushed play to the Foxton 25, but Broad relieved with a good kick. Levin then attacked and had Foxton penned up but after a scramble Hirini relieved with a good line kick. Foxton forwards then took play to the Levin 25 and being awarded a free kick Huff made no mistake. Foxton 3, Levin nil. From the kick off the Levin forwards took play into the Foxton 25 and almost scored. Foxton backs took possession from a line out, however, and took play into midfield. From a scrum Foxton lost possession of the ball and McKenzie snapped up the leather and scored near the posts. Wallace was was not successful with the kick. Levin 3, Foxton 3. Foxton forwards rushed play into Levin 25 where the home team was awarded a free kick which relieved the situation, play then being confined for some time to the Levin 25. Broad made a good run but owing to no support failed and play returned to half way. Foxton was then awarded a free kick for offside play and play then went to the Levin 25. From a line-out Levin forwards' took possession and nearly crossed. Hull - kicked back and a five yards’ scrum ensued. Levin forwards then attacked and returned play to the Foxton 25. Owing to an infringement Foxton was awarded a free kick and play returned to midfield, to Levin 25 where Wallace marked. Foxton obtained possession from the kick and made a good attempt to score. McKenzie marked and at this stage Woods had to retire owing to an injury and was replaced by Pahi. Play went to midfield. Levin forwards rallied and made a good attack but Dunn got possession and after a good run scored between the posts. Huff converted. Foxton 8, Levin 3 . -

Fox ton then took play to the Levin 25, and missed a good opportunity to score. Time was called with the scores Foxton 8, Levin 3.

From the kick-off play went to the Levin 25 and owing to an infringement Foxton was awarded a free kick but made poor use of it. Levin then returned play to the visitors’ 25, but the Foxton backs were set in motion by Hirini and Foxton was awarded a free kick in a good position. Huff was successful with the kick. Foxton 11, Levin 3.

Levin rallied and took play into the Foxton 25, but Anderson relieved with a good kick. A scrum ensued from the line-out and Freeman broke through and Walls saved with a good line kick. Foxton returned play to the Levin 25 and Wallace, centering the ball sent play back to the Foxton 25, where it remained for some time. McKenzie was hurt but was able to continue play after a while. Stratton made a good attempt at goal for Levin, but owing to lack of support, failed. Foxton was awarded a free kick and play returned to the Levin 25, where, in turn, Levin secured a free kick and sent play to midfield, where it stayed for some time. Play from then on was very even but owing to the slippiness of the ball there were many infringements. Levin took play to the Foxton 25 where Small got possession and made a good run but his effort was spoiled by a forward pass. McKenzie relieved with a good free kick. From the line-out Broad secured, and made a good run, but again had no support. Levin forwards took the ball to the visitors’ 25, but it came back to half-way, where it remained for some time. Levin was awarded a free kick, but Huff sent the ball back to McKenzie, who made a dashing run. Small securing the ball, however, opened up the backs, and play was rushed to Levin’s twenty-five, where from a forward rush Williams scored. Foxton 14 —Levin 3.

Levin rushed play down the line, and a five yards serum resulted. Wallace securing from the scramble, scored. Foxton 14 —Levin 6. From then on the game was even, and ended Foxton 14 —Levin (j.

Mr King! refereed the first spell, and Mr J. Hapa the second. After the match, the team was hospitably entertained at tea by the home team.

Foxton play Palmerston N., at Palmerston N., next .Wednesday, and Levin will play the return match there the following Wednesday.
