LON CHANEY IN “THE ROAD TO
MANDALAY.”
Lon Chaney has found his thousand and first face! The famous delineator of weird characters dons a weird and gruesome make-up for some of his scenes in “The Road to Mandalay,” his new Metro-Gold-wyn-Mayer starring vehicle at the Town Hall to-night. As the sinister ruler of the Singapore underworld —bad to his fingertips, but still with a great love that in the end redeems him—Chaney gives the greatest performance of his career. The story is a dramatic tale of the Orient, with a notable cast, including Lois Moran, Owen Moore, Henry B. Walthall, Kamiyama Sojin and others. Tod Browning directed it. Also “Nothing Matters” (comedy), N.Z. Topical and latest News. Prices as usual.
Priscilla Dean will star on Monday evening in “The Crimson Runner,” a story of a female Robin Hood among the Apaches of. Vienna. The startling story is played by a big cast which in addition to the star includes Mitchell Lewis, Taylor Holmes and Allan Hale. Also comedy and News. Prices as usual.
