RIDING WITHOUT LIGHTS

CYCLISTS CONVICTED. The seriousness of cyclists riding after dark without lights is apt to be disregarded by most people, but a warning was issued at yesterday’s S.M. Court against this practice. On remarking on the number of breaches of the by-law locally Constable Owen said that it was a far too common practice to-day for cyclists to ride without lights after dark. It was a particularly dangerous practice with so much motor traffic about. It was only a short while ago that a local resident lost his life in this manner. It was purely to safeguard life that the police took action in this connection. The following offenders were each convicted and fined 10/- with costs 10/-:—J. Andrew, E- Robinson, H. Fee and J. Fee.
