FIRE AT RONGOTEA.

SMITHY AND GARAGE

DESTROYED.

Palmerston N., May 2,

A large blacksmith’s shop owned by John Glover was totally destroyed by tire at Rongotea this morning. Parts of the premises are occupied by. L. Melles as a garage, and it is believed that the fire started in that corner of the building. The contents of Glover’s shop were covered by insurance to the extent of £SOO in the Norwich Union Office. The contents of the gar-age were also covered in the same office, but the amount is not available. In endeavouring to suppress the conflagration, George Illingworth was injured, and was removed to Palmerston North for medical treatment.
