FALSE RETURNS OF INCOME
CHEMIST FINED £SOO,
Wellington, April 29,
Having understated his income by £9711 since 1917, thereby evading the payment of income tax to the extent of £946, Herbert Hepworth, chemist of Palmerston North was fined a total of £SOO by Mr. E. Page, S.M., to-day. Mr. Tudhope for the Department said defendant had returned less than one third of his income and the tax paid was about one-sixth of what it should have been.
