ANZAC DAY COLLECTIONS

- We are asked to publish the amounts collected at this and last year’s Anzac services and the expenditure of same in order to clear up a mischievous rumour circulated to the effect that such collections are used by the Returned Soldiers in connection with their re-unions. —Collection 1926, £4 15s Od. Expenditure service sheets, and advertising £1 14s 6d, cartage 5/-, ribbon for wreath 3/-, credit in P. 0.5.8. £2 13s 6d. Collection 1927, £9 4s 6d. Expenditure, printing, advertising and ribbon £2 13s 6d, leaving a credit balance of £6 11s Od, which added to the credit balance from last year totals £9 4s 6d, which is deposited in the P. 0.S.B. It has been decided to supplement this fund by a special effort in order to effect improvements at the Triangle wherein is erected the Soldiers’ Memorial.
