FOXTON HARBOUR BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING,

The monthly meeting of the Foxton Harbour Board was held in the Secretary’s office this morning, and was presided over by Mr .J. Linklater, ALP. Also present were Messrs .T. A. Nash, M.P., J. Chryslall, Mortonsen, R. McMuvray, W. E. Barbel*, and the secretary (Mr R. Rangiheuea). THE JETTY. The Chairman reported on a conference with repesentatives of the Board and the Beach Improvement Society in connection with the jetty, which was badly damaged in (he last Hood. It had been agreed to leave the jetty in its present state until next summer, when it was decided to go into the matter of the erection of another jetty fronting the beach. In the meantime it was agreed to instruct the pilot to gather up as much of the jetty timber as possible, and to anchor same to prevent it being carried away by any future Hood. BEACH ROAD. The Chairman reported that lie had conferred with the Chairman of the Manawalu County Council in connection with the completion ol' the road leading out on to the beach at the Manawatu Heads. The Council was prepared to endeavour to raise a loan to complete the road provided the Board dedicated the road to the County. —This was agreed to. CORRESPONDENCE was read and dealt with as follows: From the Foxton Ladies’ Hockey Club, requesting permission to use the Harbour Board shed for practice purposes. —Impossible to accede to the request. From the Foxton Chamber of Commerce, asking the Board to provide a camping area at the Beach for motorists. —Decided to provide an area, the location of which is to be decided on by the Chairman. GENERAL. The Secretary was instructed to forward Mr Glapham a letter of sympathy in his recent illness, and the Chairman expressed regret that lie was severing his connection with the Board. He had, lie said, been an energetic and enthusiastic member, and the Board greatly appreciated his services. Votes of thanks were accorded Messrs Graham and Joseph for reports furnished to the Board.
