FUNERAL OF THE LATE HON. D. H. GUTHRIE.
Fcilding, April 1. The high esteem in which the late Hon. D. 11. Guthrie was -held was evidenced at the funeral procession to-day, which was thoroughly representative of all sections of the community. At one o’clock a solemn lodge of sorrow was conducted at the Feeding Masonic Temple, when members of the Masonic fraternity were present from all parts of New Zealand. Shortly after 2 p.m. an impressive service was conducted by the Rev. T. Miller, M.A., at the Presbyterian Church, when that building was crowded to the doors. A.s the hearse left the church for the cemetery over 100 motor-cars followed. Inside the cemetery gates the procession was met by a large gathering of Masons, who lined either side of the hearse and followed it to the graveside. His Excellency the .GovernorGeneral was represented by Major Boyle, military secretary, while Cabinet and Parliament were represented by the Right Hon, J. G. Coates (Prime Minister), Sir Frances Bell, the lion. A. D. McLeod (Minister of Lands), Hon. R. 1. Bollard (Minister of Internal Affairs), Hon. K. S. Williams (Minister of Public 'Works), Hon. J. G. Anderson (Minister of Labour), Mr. J. J. Hoekly, Sir John Luke, Mr. G. R. Sykes, Mr. J. Nash, Mr. J. Linklater, Mr. G. Elliott, and Mr. IV. Glen.
The Rev. Mr. Miller conducts the service at the graveside, afte which the Masonic service was con ducted.
