AYe hear much from protected labour about a “living wage” (writes “Farmer” in the East Coast Guardian). Just this week 1 met a swagger. He said he was an engineer. He was offered work at £3 10s a week. What did lie say? No he wouldn’t work for less than £4 10s: that was his “Union Wage.” Where did the living wage come jn. re was getting nothing while swaggingso that his living wage was less than the awards. I quote this as an example. The country is full of men of this class, and when they get a job at a “living” wage they ‘goslow” and don’t earn their pay.
