WHAT’S WRONG WITH OTAKI?
The Qtaki mail referring to things in Otaki says: “Things may look bad, but don’t let us get down-hear-ted or cry aloud from the housetops how bad things are looking. This is not the sort of advertisement which is wanted. All here know the position, and it is useless reiterating it; and utterly useless taking it outside. Instead of attracting people this sort of tiling will drive people out; and keep others’from coming in. Let us all get down to the problems facing us —let us choose the best brains offering for the Council, and then let us tackle the furrow, and plough right straight on in an undeviating line. There are any amount of places worse than Otaki. To our mind Otaki will progress on account of its splendidly endowed natural attractions, and in spite of all croakers and pessimists will come into its own. Its climate, position, soil, beach, all are nature’s free gifts, and it is for us to put our house- in order and get- the most out of the freewill offering lying at our doors.”
