“WAR PAINT.” The spring of 1877 —the Red Indian frontim ablaze—whooping redskins attacking a white outpost! What material for the descriptive pen of Peter B. Kyne, the world’s famous novelist. His story “War Paint,” the screen version of which comes to the Town Hall to-night is a breathless action picture of last century’s frontier wars between settlers and Red Indians. This production introduces Tim AlcCoy, newest of outdoor adventure stars, and a most fascinating personality. His first picture makes splendid entertainment, Its depiction of the frontier struggles is packed with thrilling incidents, and a delightful love theme predominates. AlcCoy is a great screen discovery. Tall, soldierly, and magnetic, he typifies the virile hero of romantic fiction. His ability as an actor is undoubted, and he will certainly become one of the most popular screen figures. Special supporting list includes “The Movies”, (comedy), Felix the Cat (cartoon), N.Z. Scenic and Pathe News. Usual Prices. On Monday “The Girl of the Limberlost,” will head the programme. This is adapted from Gene Stratton Porter’s novel of the same name, the story of a self reliant girl of the Michigan woods, whose philosophy of love and kindness shines in the wilderness of her surroundings. Also “Rubberneck” (comedy), and Pathe Gazette. Usual Pxices.
