FOXTON LADIES’ HOCKEY CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the above club was held in Grady’s rooms on Thursday evening, presided over by Air. D. R. Barron (president). There was a good attendance of members. Before proceeding with the business a motion of sympathy was passed to the relatives of the late Air. Naysmith, the club’s delegate to the association. ANNUAL REPORT. The annual report was read as follows: In presenting the annual report of the Fox’ton Ladies’ Hockey Club for the 1926 season, I have pleasure in reporting a very successful season, although the club did not succeed in annexing the Association Shield, they have moved up from bottom place to fourth on the list — a very creditable performance for a young club. The club was fortunate in 'having several members picked to play in the different representative' matches and each player chosen worthily upheld the honour conferred upon them and their club.

During the year a most successful shop day was hold, from which the sum of £22 18s Id was raised. This money went towards paying travelling expenses of club members during the season, and it says much for the Club when throughout the fixtures no member had to pay her fare for conveyance. The Beverley Rose Bowl for the most improved player for the season, presented by Airs Barron, was won by Aliss Nathalie Spring, and presented to her on a fitting occasion. The credit balance remaining in hand at the end of the season is £4 0s Bd. The thanks of members are due to all who assisted by coaching, etc., to those who gave cash ’donations, to the press, and to the secretary, Aliss B. Gower, for the capable manner in which she carried out her duties.* The balance sheet disclosed a credit of £4 0s S'd, plus assets, £2 7s 6d. The receipts included £35 2s 7d, shop day and dance, subscriptions £5 8s 13d, donations £5 3s I.d r gate receipts £2 2s 4d, and miscellaneous items £6 15s Od. The chief items of expenditure were: travelling expenses £23 13s Bd, affiliation fee and tournament £4 2s 3d, refreshments £6 19s Od, stationery and advertising £2 12s 9d, miscellaneous items including hall hire, dance music, mowing ground, etc., £2O 8s 3d. In speaking to the adoption of: the report and balance sheet, Air. D. Christie congratulated the club on its success and made special reference to the payment of the team’s travelling expenses.
