A DASTARDLY ASSAULT

ON INDIAN FRUITERER. Auckland, Last Night. An Indian fruiterer, Dahya Taring who conducted a business in a small shop near the Edendale tramway terminus was savagely assaulted at 8.30 last night by a youth who came into Tarbu’s shop to purchase lib. of pears. While Tai’bu was stooping down weighing the fruit ho was struck a violent blow on the head with a bar of iron. His assailant then ran out of the shop and escaped. Tarim sustained a (Hit on the forehead and was attended to by a doctor who found it necessary to insert stitches in the wound. Tarbu obtained a good view of the youth so he will be able to identify him should he be apprehended by the police.
