SERIOUS CHARGES
TWO GIRLS AND A MOTOR TRIP Charles Rov Bauton, a taxi-pro-Charles Roy Bauton, a taxe-pro-prietor of Dargaville, and Ivor Vincent Seoles, a printer’s apprentice, also of Dargaville were charged in the Magistrate’s Court before Mr. F. AI. Levien, S.M., to-day with taking two young Whangarei girls, aged 16 and 15 respectively, out of the possession of, and against the will of, their parents, with intent that the girls should he unlawfully earnallyknown. Bauton was also charged with attempting to unlawfully carnally know a girl under 16 years. Seoles was also charged with abetting Bauton in the commission of the alleged crime.
The four concerned went on a motor journey to Dargaville last Saturday week and occupied an empty house but they were soon found by Sergeant Griffiths, of Dargaville, as a result of a message wired through from the Whangarei police. The charge against Seoles of. abducting was dismissed and he was committed to the Supreme Court on the charge of abetting.
, Bauton was committed on the charge of attempted carnal knowledge, the charge of abduction being dismissed. Bail in each ease was for £IOO personal security and a surety of £IOO.
