At a Wellington evening sports meeting on Saturday, Randolph Rose .broke Hyde's Australian and New Zealand record for three miles by 10 seconds, doing the distance in 14min. 20 1-5 sees. Earlier in the evening he ran the mile in 4.34 without exerting himself. In the three miles, Rose had out-distanced the field at 2J miles, the pace being too slow for him. He then made his own pace and won by over 600 yards.
